The show paved the way for complex, strong female characters in television, while its themes of friendship, sacrifice and moral ambiguity remain relevant to this day.
Tom Lenk, known for his hilarious and sometimes serious portrayal of Andrew Wells, certainly has a lot to say about the show’s ongoing impact.
The actor spoke to Today Extra’s David Campbell and Sylvia Jeffreys on Tuesday morning, opening up about his love for the character, the devotion of Buffy fans and even hinted at the possibility of a reboot.
Watch everything he had to say in the video above.
“The character was an opportunity to get to be funny and also serious at times,” Lenk said.
Fans of the show will remember Andrew’s journey from villainous member of the ‘Trio’ to a somewhat reformed (and still very quirky) ally of Buffy and her friends.
He recently shared a nostalgic throwback photo with fellow ‘Trio’ members Danny Strong and Adam Busch, who played Jonathan and Warren, which stirred up a massive response from fans.
“Buffy fans, Angel fans, the Buffyverse – they’re still so devoted to the show. It’s not surprising,” he confessed during the interview.
The reunion photo even drew the attention from Buffy herself.
Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar commented on the ‘caption this’ photo with “Three people I adore.”
Strong replied by posting “U TOO!!!” while Lenk responded with four kiss-face emojis.

Beyond viral moments, the fandom remains heartwarmingly committed.
Lenk recently received a fan-made scrapbook during a convention in Paris.
Speaking about the gift, he said: “It’s a reflection of the love that still exists for Buffy and for the whole universe.”
Lenk added with a laugh, “I feel bad that they did all this effort and then they didn’t keep it for themselves. Now it’s up to me to stare at photos of myself. But I do appreciate the effort. It’s very sweet.”
Fans have long speculated about a potential reboot of Buffy, and Lenk didn’t shy away from addressing the rumors.
“There’s always talk of a reboot,” he said. “I would love it to happen. I would love to work with that cast again – they’re such great actors.”
Lenk then quipped: “But I think the closest thing to a reboot is that reunion with me, Danny, and Adam. Honestly, I would watch that show. Would you? Just the three of us?”

Lenk even joked about Jonathon and Warren’s untimely demise “Maybe I’d have to bring two out of the three of us back to life,” he joked.
In addition to reflecting on his Buffy days, Lenk is keeping busy with exciting new projects, including the upcoming Korean spy drama Tempest.
“I just finished filming in Seoul. It’s one of the best cities in the world,” he said, encouraging everyone to visit.
“I manifested it for myself because I’m such a huge K-drama fan… Obviously, I play the lead, very handsome, very sexy spy. A lot of wigs, very Alias. I’m just changing wigs all the time.”
As for what’s next? Lenk has offered to put his hand up to star in the highly anticipated Season 2 of Aussie mystery-comedy Deadloch.
